Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to register his disgust with the vile image.
“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself,” Trump tweeted. “My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!”
President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., also weighed in on the controversial photograph, calling Griffin’s stunt “disgusting but not surprising.”
Griffin, who regularly co-hosts CNN’s New Years Eve coverage, apologized for the stunt on Tuesday evening, admitting she “went too far” when she took the photos. In a video posted to Twitter, Griffin said the image was “too disturbing,” and that “it wasn’t funny.”
“I am sorry. I went too far. I was wrong,” Griffin wrote.
