Donald Trump eerily predicted North Korea’s nuclear program during an interview back in 1999, saying the North Korean regime was filled with “wackos” and warning American politicians “you better solve the problem” before it’s too late.
Trump was speaking with NBC’s Tim Russert when he made the startling prediction, telling the famed reporter the US should try and negotiate with the North Koreans, but attack the communist nation should diplomacy fail.
“You say that you, as President, would be willing to launch a pre-emptive strike against North Korea’s nuclear capability,” said Russert.
“First, I’d negotiate, I would negotiate like crazy and I’d make sure we tried to get the best deal possible,” said Trump. “These people, in three or four years, are going to have nuclear weapons. They’re going to have those weapons pointed all over the world and specifically at the United States. Wouldn’t you be better off solving this [problem] now?”
“The biggest problems this world has is nuclear proliferation. We have a country out there, North Korea, which is sort of wacko. Which is not a bunch of dummies and they are going out and they are developing nuclear weapons,” he added. “Wouldn’t it be good to sit down and really negotiate something? If that negotiation doesn’t work you better solve the problem now than solve it later.”
“You know it, and every politician knows it, and nobody wants to talk about it,” said Trump.
